About the Breed
Easter Eggers aren’t a standardized breed, but rather a colorful hybrid type descended from chickens carrying the blue-egg gene. Their appearance can vary widely, making every Easter Egger wonderfully unique. You may see shades of gray, brown, black, cream, gold, or red, often paired with charming beards, muffs, or distinctive feather patterns.
They’re hardy, adaptable foragers who thrive in both free-range and enclosed environments. Their friendly, curious demeanor makes them excellent choices for backyard flocks, family farms, and mixed-breed coops alike. Easter Eggers are generally known for being social, docile, and easy to handle.
Egg Production
Egg Color: Beautiful shades of blue, green, olive, blue-green, and occasionally, pink
Egg Size: Medium to large
Average Production: 180–220 eggs per year with proper feed and daylight
Temperament: Friendly, curious, and social — excellent in mixed flocks
